Wistaston Parish Council was formed in 1894 when its first Chairman was Arthur Griffith Hall. Over the years it has developed and now has the responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the recreation area known as Joey the Swan as well as the sports fields located at the Brittles, 27 street lights and 3 bus shelters. The day to day administration is carried out by the Parish Clerk and a park ranger has recently been appointed.

As the lowest level of local government all Council Tax payers pay for the services the Parish Council provide for the village by way of an annual precept which is levied on the Borough Council and charged to Council Tax payers in the parish. As well as day to day upkeep expenses various capital projects are undertaken often with the help of grants from other bodies.

The Council works with other local bodies and associations who all do their bit for the good of the village and try to protect and enhance the amenities we have and develop others which the people of the village believe will improve the quality of life.

Meetings of the Council normally take place every third Thursday of the month when anyone is welcome and you can read more on the Parish noticeboards or by contacting the Clerk to the Council Mrs Andrea Cross on 01270 652098 or email at wistastonpc@tiscali.co.uk.
